DESCRIPTION:The Center for Water Research Freiberg (ZeWaF) invites all inte
 rested students\, researchers\, and staff to two Birdsall-Dreiss/Lamoreaux
  lectures by Prof. Michael Sukop on groundwater dynamics\, sea-level rise\

 nigmatic Biscayne Aquifer: Field\, Laboratory\, and Computational Approach
 es\n\nThe Birdsall-Dreiss/LaMoreaux Distinguished Lectureship is an intern
 ationally recognized lecture series in hydrogeology\, organized by the Hyd
 rogeology Division of the Geological Society of America. It honors outstan
 ding contributions to groundwater science and supports visits by distingui
 shed hydrogeologists to universities and research institutions worldwide.\
 n\nProf. Michael Sukop is Professor of Hydrogeology in the Department of E
 arth and Environment and the Institute of Environment at Florida Internati
 onal University. He is a Fellow of the Geological Society of America\, a l
 icensed professional geologist\, and a certified hydrogeologist in Califor
 nia. His research focuses on critical groundwater issues in Southeast Flor
 ida\, including saltwater intrusion\, groundwater inundation\, septic syst
 ems\, injection wells\, and the hydrogeology of the Biscayne Aquifer. He h
 as extensive expertise in groundwater and solute transport modeling\, co-a
 uthored Version 4 of the widely used SEAWAT model for seawater intrusion\,
  and has authored and co-authored two books on Lattice Boltzmann computati
 onal fluid dynamics modeling. His team is currently implementing the coast
 al subsurface monitoring network for Southeast Florida.
