On the Montanportal scientists will find selected information on various disciplines, such as mining and metallurgy, economic geology, prospecting, recovery and recycling, as well as resource economy.
This service will bundle information and literature of various kinds, including reports, statistics, research results, guidelines and other publications, and thus it will provide an entry to a comprehensive information retrieval.
The University Library of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg can contribute to Montanportal due to its sustainable long-term collecting tradition of items on resource research along the value chain. In recent years it has been supported by the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft), which is also promoting this “Fachinformationsdienst Montanportal” within the “specialist information services for science” program since April 2016.
The technical implementation is based on a special catalog on the basis of the free Discovery System “VuFind“. This professionally selected database of library data, literature collections of professional societies, etc. will be bundled for a comprehensive search. As far as possible, a full-text search will be provided in selected documents.
On a smaller scale, the acquisition of professionally relevant subject specific literature is planned on this portal, provided that it is uniquely available within Germany.
