We warmly welcome all freshmen and campus newcomers to the TU Bergakademie Freiberg and thus also to the new university library!

The University Library

is located on the North Campus at Winklerstraße 3, 09599 Freiberg.
Access to the library is currently only possible via the entrance  Winklerstraße 3.
The large spiral staircase leads to the  circulation and information desk on the second floor.

Saturday: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Registration & User Account
Your student ID card is also your library card. When you enrolled, a library account was automatically set up for you.
To log in to your library account, you will need your library number (on the back of your student ID card) and a password (default password = date of birth: DDMMYYYY).
After logging in to your account, you should change the default password to a personal password and set a four-digit PIN for the self-checkout terminals.

Rules of use and scale of fees (access campus network, german)
With your enrollment you have accepted the usage regulations and fee schedules of the University Library of Freiberg in their respective valid versions incl. appendices.

Print & Scan
Color multifunctional devices of the company Relaxed-Copying are available on all floors.

Literature

Our holdings include printed media such as books, trade journals, daily newspapers, maps, and CDs, as well as electronic media such as e-books and e-journals, and databases.

    • The catalog lists almost the complete stock of printed and electronic media of the Freiberg University Library.
    • The digital location map shows you the location of the medium you are looking for.

Lending , renewal & return
With your student ID card you can check out the media on the second floor at one of the self-check-out terminals or from the staff at the circulation desk. To use the self-check-out terminals you need the four-digit PIN (see paragraph “Registration & User Account”). Media with a red label and journals cannot be borrowed.
The loan period is 28 calendar days. In principle, loan period extensions are possible. You can extend the loan period online via your user account before it expires. However, reserved media are excluded. Please check your user account regularly for information about the expiration of the loan period of the borrowed media.
Borrowed media can be returned during the opening hours of the library at the circulation desk and also outside opening hours via the book return machine on the first floor.

WLAN is available throughout the library and auditorium center building.

To access our licensed e-resources off-campus, you need to log into the campus network via VPN or Eduroam (Linux / MacOS and Windows / Android / iOS). As an alternative to VPN, Shibboleth with two-factor authentication is also available.
