Apply till 1st of March for the German Thesis Award

The German Thesis Award, presented by the Körber Foundation, honours the best doctoral graduates in Germany from all disciplines each year. The award focuses on the broader social relevance of a particular piece of research. Applications must be submitted in German.

Applications for Saxon State Scholarships for Doctoral Studies are open until 10 February 2026.

The TU Bergakademie Freiberg is offering Saxon State Scholarships for doctoral studies at the start of funding on 1 April 2026.

The funding period is up to three years. Doctoral students who do not receive any other public or private funding are eligible for funding. The doctorate may already have begun.

Apply Now: KlarText-Preis for Science Communication

The KlarText-Prize for Science Communication recognises PhD graduates who can explain their research clearly and precisely without using jargon. Awarded by the Klaus Tschira Foundation, the prize recognises outstanding examples of successful science communication.

The focus is on communicating complex research results in a way that is understandable beyond one’s own academic community.

Call for the PRO-SLO School 2026 now open

At the completion of the PRO-SLO PhD school, students will know and understand:

  • Concept, principles and business case for a SLO in the Raw Materials industry, and the risks involved in ignoring the importance of a social license;
  • Nature and dynamics of stakeholders, the role of social capital, and how to interact with communities to gain and maintain a SLO.

The PhD School is beginner level; no previous knowledge and experience on the topic of SLO is needed. The students are also exempt from paying any participation fees.
