07. March 2023 – Lars Oelschläger Milestone plan

CW 9: 27.02.-03.03.

There is a self-service portal where everyone can manage device-specific app passwords. This allows access to the WLAN and, in the future, to Horde Webmail as well.

App passwords

The Self-Service-Portal for App-passwords is accessible under service.tu-freiberg.de. Currently the options to generate  app-/device-specific passwords for eduraom and direct access on Unixmail with imaps- / smtp-ssl-capable Mail-Clients are offered. The access is possible from public networks using the new password.

Activation of the “clean” Network

The “clean” network is expected to be available in CW 8/9. From the clean network, the internet among other things will be available.

E-mail: Webmail Horde

The Horde webmail client is again accessible from public networks and the eduroam WLAN. When calling webmail5.hrz.tu-freiberg.de you will be redirected to the Shibboleth login.

Note: Please be aware of possible browser cache effects when visiting the webmail website. A previous browser restart should help.

If you are using Thunderbirds or similar email clients on your notebook or smartphone again. IMAPs clients to retrieve your e-mails again, please note that you must first generate a device-specific e-mail password for this on the self-service portal service.tu-freiberg.de. You must enter this password in the configuration for both imaps access and smtp-ssl access, otherwise the configuration can remain the same.

E-mail: Webowa Exchange

There will be two Exchange servers temporarily. You can still log in to the old Exchange server with your old access data. At the new Exchange server you will only be able to log in with your newly assigned password. As soon as this new Exchange server is productive, all new incoming e-mails will be delivered to it. All old e-mails will remain in the old Exchange server. The transfer to the new Exchange server may take a few weeks.

You can reach the old and also the new Exchange service via Webowa in the isolation network (emergency PCs) as well as in the future clean network (newly set up computers).
