Climate change is one of the greatest challenges humanity has ever faced. Thanks to science and its worldwide cooperation, we are also able to develop solutions across disciplines in order to transform societies and economies within a historically short period of just 30 years in such a way that we can operate in a completely climate-neutral manner. In its Green Deal, the European Union set the political goal that the European Union should become completely climate-neutral by 2050.
At first, we present three keynote speeches on climatic changes all over the world. The keynote speakers are three alumni with a doctorate of our university who now work at the United Nations and at universities in Sudan and Brazil. After that, we invite you to join our workshops where we can discuss solutions for different societal challenges facing the European Green Deal for the creation of a climate-neutral economy by 2050. In the final part of the Freiberg Future Forum, we will discuss about the requirements of this paradigmatic changes for the education of students and doctoral students at our university.
The Freiberg Future Forum will be chaired by Dr. Kristina Wopat, director of the Graduate and Research Academy of TU Bergakademie Freiberg, and takes place as an online event via Big Blue Button.
