Welcome to another day at the International Mineral Processing Congress (IMPC) in Moscow with an exciting set of lectures! Mrs. Margarita Mezzetti from the Institute of Mineral Processing Machines (IAM) today spoke on the “Microstructural Investigation of Complex Ores Processed with Electric Impulses”. A scientific lecture always presents a welcome opportunity to get feedback from the international research environment.
The numerous presentations at the IMPC are accompanied by daily poster sessions, which are arranged according to various theme groups. Throughout the 4 day spanning event, a total of 90 posters are on display for the participants. As these posters mainly cover contents that are not talked about in the lectures, the poster sessions offer a great deal of valuable additional information.
In about 10 minutes, one can get the gist of each of the posters – albeit, capturing the content of every single poster would take up to about 15 hours. 😉 In addition, the congress offers an exhibition on “Mining and Mineral Processing”, where global innovations in the mining industry are presented in 7 thematic sections and industry experts can seize the opportunity to gather and exchange their experiences.
Special workshops on the topics of sustainability, education, and mineral processing round the International Mineral Processing Congress out.
The commercial application of Electric Impulse Comminution (EIC) gains more and more interest worldwide. At the IMPC conference, next to Margarita another 2 presentations dealt with complete new EIC setups, focused on either semi-batch or continuous operating systems. A further paper from BRGM (Kathy Cru) reported on an EU project with involvement of the Freiberg based GKZ (Geo Competence Centre, Dr. Wolfgang Reimer) and Saxore (Dr. Marco Roscher), a local Junior Miner, which is using EIC for the comminution of complex skarn ores.
