Writing phases of scientific articles and doctoral theses are sometimes a great challenge for young scientists. How do I get started? How do I maintain concentration? The writing workshop provides an opportunity for focused and structured writing.
The idea
of the writing workshop for PhD students was initiated by Prof. Yvonne Joseph and Dr. Katja Heise, Institute for Electronic and Sensor Materials, further developed by GraFA and is now implemented in cooperation with the University Library.
After attending the introductory event, doctoral students have a workspace for undisturbed writing in a specially designed spatial and temporal setting in the university library and experience the motivation and support of a peer group of like-minded people. In this way, they can work effectively on publications or the dissertation.

Sequence of the writing phases
Writing and break times are completed together. The break times serve the inspiration within the group and the strengthening of the motivation. Through the community, writing crises are overcome more easily.
During the defined writing times, work can be done in a distraction-free and focused manner.
Common writing times are every working day: 9:00 – 10:30; 10:50 – 12:20; 15:00 – 16:30.
Common break times are 10:30 – 10:50; lunch break from 12:20.
Additional writing times can be individualized and arranged within the writing groups.
