The final day of the International Mineral Processing Congress (IMPC) was dedicated to various industrial and cultural tours for the participants:

On the one hand, the Russian mining and metallurgical company Metalloinvest Management Company LLC opened the doors to its sites in Gubkin (mining) and Stary Oskol (steel); on the other hand, a visit to the potash mine Usolskiy of the EuroChem group, which is located at the Verkhnekamsk potash deposit in the Perm region, was also on offer. As for the cultural part, one could choose between a Golden Ring tour to the ancient Russian towns to the northeast of Moscow and a trip to St. Petersburg. Lecture of Margarita Mezzetti from the IAM at the IMPC in Moscow on the “Microstructural Investigation of Complex Ores processed with Electric Impulses”

Welcome to another day at the International Mineral Processing Congress (IMPC) in Moscow with an exciting set of lectures! Mrs. Margarita Mezzetti from the Institute of Mineral Processing Machines (IAM) today spoke on the “Microstructural Investigation of Complex Ores Processed with Electric Impulses”. A scientific lecture always presents a welcome opportunity to get feedback from the international research environment.

The numerous presentations at the IMPC are accompanied by daily poster sessions, which are arranged according to various theme groups. Throughout the 4 day spanning event, a total of 90 posters are on display for the participants. As these posters mainly cover contents that are not talked about in the lectures, the poster sessions offer a great deal of valuable additional information. The International Mineral Processing Congress (IMPC) is still in full swing! The official program features more than 300 lectures – with each of the participants having a 15 minute speaking time at their disposal.

If one were to hold all the lectures one after another, that would easily add up to over 3 days of non-stop reporting on the latest developments in the field of mineral processing technologies. That way, even the most interested audience would eventually suffer from a diminishing concentration. 😉

In order to have enough breaks in between the lectures and still be able to deliver all contributions within 4 days, 6 to 7 lectures take place simultaneously and are organized in different sessions. Dr.-Ing. Max Hesse, research assistant at the Institute of Mineral Processing Machines (IAM), has given a lecture on the “Influencing Parameters of the Selective Comminution at Impact Load” in the “Comminution & Classification” theme group.

IMPC session leadership by Margarita Mezzetti from the Institute of Mineral Processing Machines within the comminution & classification theme group

The International Mineral Processing Congress (IMPC) continued today. An event of such a large dimension with more than 1,500 participants from all over the world rightfully claims to serve as the leading communication platform for all aspects concerning the processing of mineral raw materials. In order to structure the variety of conference topics, the presentations and posters are organized in 11 theme groups and allocated to individual sessions comprising 2 to 8 lectures.

The individual sessions are then led by experienced researchers. Margarita Mezzetti, a research assistant at the Institute of Mineral Processing Machines (IAM), today had the honor to lead the audience and speakers through a session within the comminution & classification theme group. At the beginning of each lecture, Mrs. Mezzetti briefly introduced the speakers, and afterwards coordinated the many different questions raised by the interested audience.

The IMPC takes place every two to three years in different locations. Since the congess was first held in London back in 1952, the IMPC has been a major driving force for the promotion of scientific and technological expertise in mineral processing and extractive metallurgy worldwide. It is the most prestigious event in the field of mineral processing in the world today.

In the upcoming days, the Institute of Mineral Processing Machines (IAM) will play its part in the conference with various presentations and posters; beyond that, the IMPC offers numerous networking opportunities through gatherings with friends, acquaintances, partners, and employees from companies and research institutions from all over the world.
