Girls Day 2020 – your way into the future!

Are you passionate about technology and want to face the problems of the future? Here is the right thing for you!

March 26th, 2020 is Girls Day – on that day, girls will get to know jobs in technology, IT, handicrafts and sciences. They are going to take a look around at companies or discover courses in the fields of science and technology at universities like TU Freiberg.

On this occassion, we woud like to take you on a journey into the diverse world of process engineering. We clarify questions like: What is process engineering anyway? Which research topics are relevant at the moment, which kind of jobs are possible, how is the course of studies? You will be able to talk to female engineers at the institute and actively join exciting experiments. And the best of all: we have prepared something very special for you in the end – you can be excited!

Register and come to our institute. You will find everything about the program and registration here.

So why leave it to men? Take your chance!

Carbon – curse or blessing? Our discovery trail explains it!

Heads are put together, ideas are exchanged, facts are researched – we at the IEC are planning something special for you. Until April 25, 2020 an educational trail is going to be created at our institute at Reiche Zeche as part of the Saxon State Exhibition.

The “Carbon Discovery Trail” describes what carbon is, what role it plays in our lives and why it is necessary to rethink its future use. It deals with topics such as plastics, fuels, energy and  environment, which you get to know with the help of interactive elements. You can also take a look at our large-scale test facilities to see how to make gasoline from waste.

Look forward to a lot of new knowledge!

DEMO PROJECT – ENVIRONMENTAL MEASURES FOR THE PRODUCTION AND TREATMENT OF LIGNITE

The demonstration project takes the form of presentations that explain the current state of the art in the extraction, transportation and use of coal. As part of individual presentations, the transfer of the latest knowledge into operational practice is shown (transshipment points, DPD, landfills, forklifts, etc.), which aim to reduce dust emissions into the environment and generally protect the environment. Another part of the lectures includes a short theoretical analysis of the spread of dust and a detailed description of the individual variants to prevent the spread of dust into the environment (wet and dry methods), which have been used from the past to the present, as well as an assessment of the individual advantages and disadvantages of these measures.

On this topic the technical department of VĂšHU “Technological Processes and Diagnostics” will then organize an excursion to an active mining in the region, in which the operator will demonstrate the use of dust-reducing measures. Guided tours to the handling stations and visits to rotating moisture distributors of the companies Vršanská uhelná and SeveroÄŤeskĂ© doly – BĂlina opencast mine – are organized. These excursions are also part of the weekly internships in the technical departments of VĂšHU.

A great opportunity for schoolchildren and students to get a taste of experience abroad.

We can also arrange an appointment for the lectures at your school. Take your chance!

Thinking outside the box – seminars like at university or in business

SEMINARS FOR STUDENTS – You won’t find boredom here!

Are you looking for an alternative to everyday school life? Would you prefer to deal with regional problems and help shape the solutions? Then what are you waiting for?

We come to you, support you with current questions and offer educational seminars!

Our focus is on important areas of industry and energy in the Ore Mountains region. The seminars could focus on e.g.:

  • Past, present and future of the industrial and energy sector in the Ore Mountains,
  • Consequences of acidic precipitation, acidification and eutrophication – will the forests and waters become healthy again?
  • New clean coal technologies for the production of various types of energy in the Ore Mountains region – how long will the old technologies continue to be in operation?
  • Circular economy as a new vision of the EU or waste – where to put it?
  • Past, present and future of gas production from coal.

Two vividly designed lessons are planned for each seminar. Lessons take place directly at your secondary schools in the region or at the education center of the University of Chemistry and Technology Prague (UCT) Unipetrol RPA in LitvĂnov or the lignite research institute in Most.

In addition to exciting information, we offer you an intercultural experience and interesting lectures, for which we are happy to respond to your topic requests. Written documents in the form of Power Point presentations are prepared for all seminars, which are supplemented with interesting photos and pictures.
You determine who comes to you and what you want to learn – we look forward to seeing you.

Contact us and let us know your wishes.

Regardless of whether it’s an excursion or a seminar: staff from TU Bergakademie Freiberg, TU Prague or the lignite research institute from Most (Cz.) will be happy to get in touch and develop a seminar for you.
