Girls´Day 2019

Within the annual, nationwide “Girls’and Boys’Day”, on 28.03.2019, there was the opportunity for the Czech and German students to learn more about the exciting job of a process engineer and to get in touch with practice at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg (here at the IEC) .

Tradionally, girls show greater inhibitions than the boys to get in touch with big vessels and techniques but our group showed a strong technical interest and had a lot of fun during our tour.

Thank you for joining our activity – it was a great day.

Thinking outside the box – seminars like at university or in business

SEMINARS FOR STUDENTS – You won’t find boredom here!

Are you looking for an alternative to everyday school life? Would you prefer to deal with regional problems and help shape the solutions? Then what are you waiting for?

We come to you, support you with current questions and offer educational seminars!

Our focus is on important areas of industry and energy in the Ore Mountains region. The seminars could focus on e.g.:

  • Past, present and future of the industrial and energy sector in the Ore Mountains,
  • Consequences of acidic precipitation, acidification and eutrophication – will the forests and waters become healthy again?
  • New clean coal technologies for the production of various types of energy in the Ore Mountains region – how long will the old technologies continue to be in operation?
  • Circular economy as a new vision of the EU or waste – where to put it?
  • Past, present and future of gas production from coal.

Two vividly designed lessons are planned for each seminar. Lessons take place directly at your secondary schools in the region or at the education center of the University of Chemistry and Technology Prague (UCT) Unipetrol RPA in Litvínov or the lignite research institute in Most.

In addition to exciting information, we offer you an intercultural experience and interesting lectures, for which we are happy to respond to your topic requests. Written documents in the form of Power Point presentations are prepared for all seminars, which are supplemented with interesting photos and pictures.
You determine who comes to you and what you want to learn – we look forward to seeing you.

Contact us and let us know your wishes.

Regardless of whether it’s an excursion or a seminar: staff from TU Bergakademie Freiberg, TU Prague or the lignite research institute from Most (Cz.) will be happy to get in touch and develop a seminar for you.

Girls’Day 28.03.2019!

Engineer 4.0 – Why leave the field to the men?

Are you interested in technology and looking for challenges for your future? Then your path is clear!

Where elsewhere calculations are solely done stubbornly out of the textbook, you have the view for the bigger picture, think outside the box and get creative in the development of new solutions. The engineering profession is no longer a pure male domain – and that’s a good thing.

On Girls’ Day, we want to introduce you to the versatile world of process engineering: Which research topics are currently up to date, which occupational fields are available, how does the course of study look like and what comes after that? In addition to theoretical content and discussions with our female engineers at the institute, you can also lend a hand and carry out exciting experiments. For the grand finale, we’ve prepared something special for you – that’s pretty cool!

Chemical + process engineering? Chemical process engineering!

After getting in touch with the mechanical and thermal side of process engineering in the last two days, it became it bit reactionary: we were introduced to the field of chemical process engineering.

After two days on the campus of TU Freiberg we explored a more exotic part of the city: the area of the old ore mine Reiche Zeche. On the mining hill, that also contains the oldest and worldwide unique educational mining plant, the institute of energy process engineering and chemical engineering – short IEC – is situated.
